Bitumen Paint has limited UV resistance and in exposed situations will lose its shine and gradually degrade, for maximum life in outdoor situations overcoating with a suitable solar reflective coating is advised.
DESCRIPTION BITUMEN PAINT is a fast drying solvent based full bodied bituminous paint to comply with British Standard 3416 : Type I and Type II.
USES BITUMEN PAINT provides an effective waterproof, weatherproof, corrosion resistant protective coating. It is resistant to low concentrations of alkalis and acids and can withstand prolonged oxidation. It is suitable for application to a wide variety of materials including iron and steel, lead, zinc, aluminium, asbestos-cement, concrete, stone and brick and is mainly used for: * Metal production - corrugated iron sheds, fire escapes, stairways, ladders, storage tanks, gutters, down-pipes, fences, railings, gates etc. * Protecting drinking water tanks. * A protective coating for concrete structures, stone, brick, concrete screeds and sand/ cement surfaces.

METHOD OF USE Preparation Mix Contents thoroughly, before use. Apply by brush. As with all surface coatings, preparation of the surface is of great importance and will influence the degree of adhesion obtained and the life of the coating. All surfaces must be sound, stable and thoroughly clean. BITUMEN PAINT may be applied to slightly damp but not wet surfaces. Metal surfaces should be wire brushed to remove rust. Where long term protection is required, an initial treatment of a rust inhibitive product such as red lead or zinc phosphate should be used. A minimum of two coats should be applied, the first being allowed to dry before the second is applied. NOTE: BITUMEN PAINT may bleed through any paints subsequently applied over it. Apply a primer recommended by the paint manufacturer before painting over it.
Drinking Water Tanks.
After the final coat has dried, wash out the tank with clean, cold water before using.
Protective Coating on Concrete etc.
Since concrete and some stone surfaces may be porous, an initial primer coat of BITUMEN PRIMER should be applied. Limitations Bitumen Paint has limited UV resistance and will in exposed situations will lose its shine and gradually degrade, for maximum life in outdoor situations overcoating with a suitable solar reflective coating is advised. Cleaning of Tools Tools may be cleaned by using white spirit or paraffin. Spillages should be wiped off surfaces before the bitumen paint has set. STORAGE Storage life is indefinite in tightly sealed, undamaged containers. PACKAGING Available in 1 litre, 2.5 litre 5 litre 25 litre and 200 litre containers.
